Sabrina Ehlert is an award-winning, first-generation Mexican American filmmaker originally from the Bay Area with an MFA in film and television production from USC. Her work shines a spotlight on Latines in various roles, from mothers and advocates to engineers and detectives.
Most recently, Sabrina was selected as a 2024 Sundance Latine Collab Scholarship Artist, where she is developing her first feature Connie & Lola. Sabrina co-wrote, produced, and directed the short film Esmeralda, receiving mentorship from Paul Feig and Laura Fischer’s Powderkeg Media, with sponsorship from Google and the Producers Guild of America. She also created a three-episode short form television series produced by USC. Sabrina was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan production grant for her most recent short film, Launch Fever, which won four Telly Awards and received a nomination for Best Short Film at the 2023 Imagen Awards.
Her work has been distributed by HBO and Kanopy, and showcased at the Austin Film Festival, Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, PGA Produced By Conference, and Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, among others.
Through her writing and directing, Sabrina explores her own identity, telling stories that reflect diverse perspectives and resonate with contemporary social realities.
Sabrina currently works as a Showrunners’ Assistant on Season 4 of Acapulco on Apple TV+.
